Okay this story didn’t happen in Phoenix but it definitely affects the valley as a considerable amount of drugs that come from the border end up in good old Phoenix.

The Border Patrol has a huge job ahead of them, as more and more people are trying to smuggle themselves and other drugs and weapons into the U.S.

This Last week the border patrol had another seizure near the border that was pretty large, 2230 pounds of pot and a few automatic guns were confiscated. There were 22 people carrying these products through the desert outside of Nogales, AZ. The agents reportedly used new forms of surveillance technology to find the large group.

The subjects fled and dropped their merchandise after they were discovered by agents, but they were soon aprehended. The agents seized $1,784,000 of pot, two ak-47′s and a loaded .45.

But for every group of smugglers that are caught, 10 more get through which begs the question- are the border patrol doing anything to combat pot? If it became legal would we still se smuggling through the border? Only time will tell.
